Group Environmetal Performance in 2010

Energy efficiency

There was a slight increase in the production related energy consumption for the Group. Main reasons were changes in the product mix and the divestment of rigid plastic consumer goods operations.

Air emissions

The reported CO2 emissions are a direct derivate of Group primary energy consumption. As the relative share of primary fuels consumption within the Group has increased, the direct CO2 emissions increased accordingly during 2010.

Waste

Product mix changes within the Molded Fiber and Foodservice Europe-Asia-Oceania segments combined with the divestment of rigid plastic consumer goods operations were the main contributors to the slight increase in the production related waste output

Waste recovery

The share of waste recovered remained at a high level in 2010 as the amount of waste going to landfill further reduced compared to 2009.

Water withdrawal

The continuous work on water management and water re-cycling at manufacturing units resulted in an additional reduction of water withdrawals.
