We believe all incidents can be prevented and an incident-free workplace achieved. Huhtamaki provides safety education and training for its employees as the base for supporting one of our key priorities, safety. A safe work environment only is possible when each employee makes safety an individual responsibility and fosters a mindset for identifying and eliminating risks.
Focusing on employee safety has brought clear results in recent years. Both lost time incident severity and lost time incident frequency rates has improved. In 2011, the Group's lost time incident frequency and lost time incident severity improved by 12% and 33% respectively. Improving safety performance is included in all business segment annual targets.
