Huhtamaki Foodservice Germany´s range of plastic articles are being produced by thermoforming.
The process starts extruding the raw material, which comes in granulate shape into continuous foils.
In the subsequent thermoforming process, the heated film will be formed into the desired, different shapes according to works orders.
After moulding the products will be punched off the film, then further processes follow like printing and (customized) packaging.
We typically use polystyrene (PS), polypropylene (PP), polyethylene terephthalate (PET), as well as r-PET (recycled PET) and the industrially compostable polylactic acid (PLA) for the production of our articles.
These plastic materials belong to the family of thermoplastics, which are fully recyclable as they can be reprocessed in a multiple thermic way.
The materials mentioned are subject to the approval by the German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfR), as well as the relevant existing European regulations and directives.
In terms of the German Food and Feed Code (LFGB), as well as considering the consumer goods ordinance (BVO), our manufactured products are, if used as designated, appropriate and authorized for food packaging.
This also applies to the packaging materials, as well as all other required means for decoration purposes.(printing ink, labels).
Huhtamaki is aware of their particular responsibility towards the customer and the final consumer and therefore uses a special developed management system called Huhtamaki-Alf-Management-System (HAMS).
This management system is based on the following guidelines:
• Quality management according to DIN EN ISO 9001
• Environmental management according to DIN EN ISO 14001
• Energy management system according to DIN EN ISO 50001
• Hygiene management according to BRC
• Health and safety management system according to OHSAS 18001 as well as all relevant public legal requirements (Federal Office of Consumer Protection and Food Safety)
Regular in-house and external audits of our management system and its permanent improvement ensure its effectiveness.
