Sustainability

When it comes to sustainability we're hot on it.  It's not enough for us to give it just lip service; we're an active participant

Globally, Huhtamaki was an early signatory to the Business Charter for Sustainable Development by the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC).

We strive for more sustainable packaging solutions whenever possible. Sustainability is an integrated part of our functions. For us sustainability means environmental protection, social equity and economic efficiency.

By combining our packaging knowledge with the renewable, recyclable and biodegradable material base that Huhtamaki has we are able to meet customer demand for environmentally optimal packaging.

We use PEFC certified paperboard from sustainably managed forests

The essential starting point for assessing the environmental performance of packaging is understanding the property requirements set for the packaging throughout its entire life cycle. Sustainability is important part of our raw material sourcing. Currently the majority of our paperboard comes from The Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) certified sustainably managed forests.

Huhtamaki Henderson also holds the following certifications…

·         ISO14001

·         ISO9001

·         ISO45001

·         FSC

·         PEFC

·         BRCGS
