1. Paper forming

Since 1942, Huhtamaki has been a leader in the design and development of paperboard packaging for consumer products. Our paper comes from sustainable sources providing the opportunity to recycle and have savings in terms of Green Point charges.

Additionally, comparing with other packaging solutions we ensure logistics advantages, helping you to communicate with your customers and reflecting your commitment with the environment. In addition, Huhtamaki recently acquired folding carton technology.

2. Plastic Materials

Plastic packaging is manufactured from a range of polymers such as Polypropylene (PP), recycled or virgin Polyethylene terephthalate (PET), Polystyrene (PS) and biopolymers (PLA).

Advantages of plastics in general:

  • •    Packaging design flexibility from thin films to heavy containers
  • •    Great decoration variation: colored plastic, excellent quality printing, embossing, labeling
  • •    Possibility to tailor made barrier and other properties

3. Molded fiber

Molded fiber results from a production method where up to 100% recovered paper is dissolved in water to form fine fibers, which are then pressed and dried to the requested form. After the packaging has dried it is once again pressed and printed. Machines used for this process work with a closed water system in which the water is cleaned and reused, minimizing production impact. 

Molded fiber can be formed into almost any three-dimensional shape with many favorable characteristics. The end product offers lightweight and strong products that have particularly good shock absorbing properties. They can also be manufactured in different colors or special fiber mixes. Certain applications can be printed for use in the retail trade.
