About Huhtamaki Nederland BV
Huhtamaki Nederland BV operates from a site in Franeker, in the north of The Netherlands. The company was established in Leeuwarden (The Netherlands) in 1907. In 1938 the company started with the production of molded fiber eggtrays. Shortly after that the product range of molded fiber packaging increased, including eggcartons, and therefore in 1956 the production of molded fiber products moved to a new plant in Franeker.
In 1979 the company started with the sale of technology and machinery under the name of Leotech®. Today a company with approximately 35 employees that operates under the name of Huhtamaki Molded Fiber Technology BV. A global operating company, which supports sistercompanies and licensees.
A waste trade company, LeoReitsma, was bought in 1985. This company, Huhtamaki Paper Recycling BV, with approximately 40 employees, has two subsidiaries in Northern Ireland and in the Czech Republic.
In 1988 the company was acquired by Royal Packaging Industry Van Leer NV and in 1999 Van Leer merged with Huhtamaki, which is where we are today.
Locally Huhtamaki Nederland BV employs approximately 200 employees and develops, produces and sells a wide range of molded fiber packaging (eggcartons, egg trays, fruit & vegetable packaging, industrial packaging, etc.).
The company has certificates for quality (ISO 9001), environment (ISO 14001 & FSC), safety (OHSAS 18001), hygiene (BRC) and energy (ISO 50001).
