Huhtamaki announces plans to significantly increase production capacity

Following increased demand across the UK foodservice industry, Huhtamaki has announced plans to significantly expand the production capacity of its Gosport foodservice packaging plant. The expansion will be built next to existing facilities and is expected to be completed by March 2017.

"The UK market in particular is benefiting from increased consumer confidence, with the growing coffee shop culture and more people eating out and ‘on the go'. Over the past three years we have kept pace with the demand with investments in new state of the art machinery. It's now reached the point however where a more significant investment is required," tells Rosemary Mason, Managing Director, Foodservice Western Europe & UK.

The site expansion will ensure that Huhtamaki has the infrastructure to maintain the production growth well into the future.  It is intended that the newly developed site will provide sufficient production and warehouse space to expand capacity well into the next decade.

The expansion will take place without interruption to normal production, and the new extended production areas, warehouse and new offices are built alongside existing facilities.

Huhtamaki employs 373 people across its two production facilities at the Gosport site.
